What is

platelet-rich plasma (PRP)?

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a biological product obtained from blood, selecting the fraction which corresponds to the platelets.

PRP contains growth factors and other proteins that act as modulators of inflammation.

Treatment with PRP in traumatology and sports medicine

Our experience in the application of PRP began in 1998, when we performed our first intervention.

Since the year 2000, ITRT has performed PRP infiltrations in articulations with osteoarthritis and other musculoskeletal and tendinous injuries, owing to the treatment’s anti-inflammatory and analgesic potential.

The efficiency of PRP depends, to a large extent, on how it is prepared and applied in each case. At ITRT we have our own method of preparation and application that guarantees the quality of the intervention and has shown very good results.

Based on our experience, we have extended our PRP treatments to other specialties, such as Aesthetic Medicine. Infiltrations can be performed on the face, neck, neckline or scalp to achieve facial and/or capillary stimulation and revitalisation. In our department of Aesthetic Medicine, it is possible to combine PRP treatments with hyaluronic acid and Botox.
Up to now, the procedure has proven safe and effective, without evidence of adverse effects.
